Night riding
Great for night riding. Access via southern trails from Sandy Creek Road car park after park hours. The park is open from 7.00am to 5.00pm outside of daylight savings and 7.00am to 6.00pm during daylight savings.
Family Friendly
Younger MTBers could readily ride this course as long as they have a reasonable level of riding confidence such as being able to negotiate relatively narrow trails with trees to either side and be able to negotiate berms. Most hard obstacles have B lines with the exception of a log obstacle near one of the road intersections. Supervisors should ride ahead to gauge the difficulty of obstacles against the riders capabilities. Allow faster riders to pass when convenient. During dry conditions, pea gravel can build up making some corners slippery. Warn kids to watch handlebars on trees as some sections are quite narrow.
Chainsaw Track runs for 3.5km in the northern section of the Kurrajong Mountain Bike Area and can be accessed via Junction Track or the Plantation Track.
The photos taken below are of the full trail. The photos run in an anticlockwise direction from the intersection with Plantation Track. Chainsaw Track is a generally a fast flowing single track with only gradual rises or drops in elevation making it good for quick training runs and is suitable for less experienced riders. Having said that, it has some fun technical obstacles for the more experienced - in particular jumps which range from the small to very large 4X style jumps. Follow prominent route 15 markers. Track starts at intersection with Plantation Track as wide open trail.

At the intersection with the Junction Track, there is a bit of a 'play area' with lots of berms ranging from wide and open to tight and a series of jumps of up to say 1.2 metres in height.

You can't see them overly well in the pictures but there are small and larger table top jumps all along this trail which can be ridden at high speed. |
